What are we working on?

Well, right this minute Amy is working on finals, Lindsay is still trying to cover the world in resin, Michell is already working on birthday presents for people with birthdays that are MONTHS away, and I finished Amy’s housewarming shawl.

And this page has been updated by our web peeps to show tweets!!

I know. I really do need to get out more.

Knitting anyone?

One thing we learned from FiberFest, knitters seem to be always busy.  Have you heard about 100 Hats?  A local knitting group knits hats all year, then they have a sale and donate the proceeds to a local charity.  This year it’s Metrocrest Social Services.  They have pictures and more information at 100 Hats so please check it out.

The group meets regularly to learn and practice knitting, hang out, and drink Starbucks!  How cool is that?  For more information on how to contact the group, call the Carrollton store at 972-242-8949.

There are, of course, several wonderful yarn stores with classes, too.  Our favorites are The Shabby Sheep and The Woolie Ewe, mostly depending on if we’re close to downtown or closer to Plano,

OMG Beads!!!

Trunk SHOW!!!!!
See?? Glass and Copper

The glass is here – and copper, and the tables have stones.  Wonderful stones!!!  And they’re marked down A LOT!!!

Just look at that color!!

I know, a bit blurry  because my battery was dead and I wanted to leave before I started rolling around in it.

But you have to come see it!!!  It’s amazing!!

Trunk Show MADNESS!!!

The Fantabulous Glass Trunk Show is nearly here!!!  The classroom will be full of the most wonderful colors, shapes, and finishes this weekend! Starting Saturday at 10:00am, this weekend will be amazing.  You remember my little “glass accident” last year, don’t you?  It’s those people, and they have a wonderfully unique selection, and it’ll be HERE!!!  Just in time for Mother’s Day, because what could be better than getting a lovely mound of glass beads from your children?

Michell has warned me that I am NOT to buy more glass for my personal stash, because I have to share with everyone else.  But she will be out of town visiting her brand new nephew, so she won’t know, will she?

The Fort Worth Fantabulous Glass Trunk Show will be the Friday and Saturday after ours, but don’t worry.  They have plenty of time to go back to the warehouse and reload so you won’t have to worry that all the good stuff will be gone.

We’re sorry, but the usual discounts don’t apply for trunk show merchandise, and all sales of it are final.

See you Saturday!

It’s Nearly May! Salsa and Glass, OH MY!!!!

It’s hard to grasp that April ends today, isn’t it?  I mean, wasn’t it just three days ago that it was April 15th?  No more than 4, surely!?!

OK, so it’s gonna be May tomorrow.  May is National Salsa Month, did you know?!  That’s cool, must be because of Cinco de Mayo, dontcha think?  So we’ll have to have chips and salsa to celebrate.  And a beach with white sand and ocean and those neat canvas chairs and Dos Equis beer!!  (Oops.  Got a bit carried away there.)  Yep, chips and salsa and maybe some queso.  On the 5th, of couse.   And maybe some kind of sale about 5’s…

And then on the weekend, (Saturday and Sunday) 8th and 9th actually, we will be hosting the Fabulous Czech Glass Trunk Show in the Carrollton store!  Two days of as much Czech glass as you can carry out!  Shucks, we’ll even have someone to carry it to your car if need be!  And of course Fort Worth’s Fabulous Czech Glass Trunk Show will be Friday and Saturday the 14th and 15th!   Enough time for them to go back to the warehouse and load up again!

Because it’s a trunk show, the usual discounts don’t apply, and we can’t accept returns or exchanges on trunk show merchandise.  But it promises to be fabulous!  Do you remember that “little accident” I had with the glass vendor last year?  And all that fantastically cool new glass?   That didn’t even scratch the surface, that was only what I couldn’t stop myself from buying!

Fiber Fest 2010 is over!

Wow, that was a fun (long) weekend!  We had a great time at the DFW Fiber Fest in Addision, met lots of wonderful people, and I didn’t get mugged by yarn!  However, I was seduced by some wonderful mauve wonderfulness on Friday morning by Buffalo Gold in the booth next to us.  So I bought it.  It behaved itself nicely, all wonderfulness, and I took it home.  Along with a pair of fingerless gloves for a gift for someone.

Then on Sunday, some fabulous-amazing turquiose buffalo/tencel blend started whispering across the table.  “You need me…”  “Listen – you need me!!!  Buy me NOW!”  So I told the nice man Ron to make it shut up.  Instead, he threw it into my lap!!!  Then it said it needed me to get it’s friend too, so now I have two of them.  They’re going to be a nice little bag with those gold-shimmering lined beads scattered around.

We met a lot of wonderful people, and we can’t wait till they all come into the store!

Happy Lips Appreciation Day!!

Yes, it’s really Lips Appreciation Day, and a brief search of the internet doesn’t show who invented it or why, but who cares?  It’s the day before St Patrick’s Day, with all those “Kiss me, I’m Irish” buttons and shirts, so I guess we might as well spend a day practicing!

And it’s Spring Break in most of the local schools and universities, no wonder the air is full of hormones excitement.

So stop by and pick up your gummi lips!  We’re handing them out while they last, and special customers get those wonderful full wax lips that some of us remember from our childhoods!  We don’t have a lot of them, so hurry!

PS – to get yourself in the proper spirit, I suggest watching the intro to The Rocky Horror Picture Show!  Makes me want to run right out and buy that old Revlon Fire Engine lipstick!
