A Distressing Topic

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We don’t want to upset anybody, or to point fingers, (never that) but we have been noticing that some things seem to have “left the building” without permission.  Such as:

  • one old size 2 metal crochet hook with a bent end
  • one spool of fishing line, about 2/3 used
  • one hole puncher, that only worked about half the time and sometimes failed to actually punch holes at all
  • one pair of kiddy scissors that had been used to cut wire

Are you seeing the pattern here?  We would have thrown most of this away eventually, but it vanished before we had the chance.  Nobody admits to having tossed any of it, but all admitted that the thought had crossed their minds.

So if it’s gone, *Someone* must’ve taken it.  And we want the person to know just one thing…

All those beads around and you take old pricing supplies???  Really???  Old stuff that’s half broken???  Really???

OK.

We think you’re weird.

More gadget stuff

Yet more fiddling.   I find I can even take pictures and upload them into here!!!  All without really having a clue about how the little bitty code-gnomes in the phone make it all happen!

Take THAT, Twitter!!!

PS – This is Tigger.  But now that I know how to do this, I’ll see if we can’t get a picture of All-Grown-Up Squeakers too!

Too many gadgets

OK – I think I have gadget overload. I wrote this on My Phone !!!!! Now I will really be ready for Tucson 2010!

Newsletter signup?

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter email, you might want to do that.  (There is a link to the right about the whole thing.)  I know it’s a bit convoluted, but that keeps the Spam Monitors happy.

Anyway, the reason you might want to signup?  Because we very often have Secret Sales, that we don’t advertise or put up signs in the store.  Our newsletter subscribers get first crack at the goodies.

And we’re thinking of having our own “economic stimulus package” sometime before April 15th, because we’re ALL going to need a little pick-me-up on Tax Day.  Maybe…

See??? New camera works!!

Just testing it out – see, here’s some of the stone still sitting in long strands because we need a bit more room on the wall:

Some stone

And here’s part of the stones case, with the Sparklies!!

Case Sparklies

And!!!????  It’s still waterproof!!

One small problem…

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

About that beginning bead weaving stitches class the first Sunday of each month???  Well, I forgot that the first Sunday of April is the day I’m supposed to leave for Chicago to see Son #2 and the museums.  So, while the store will STILL BE OPEN that first Sunday, I won’t be there.  But don’t worry, Lucas and Amy or someone else will be there!

And we’re working frantically on the second quarter class schedules, but I have realized that my camera is only pretending to work now.  Evidently it decided that the Tragedy in Tucson was really not something it could ignore, and it decided to pick random exposure values and flash brightness, and seems to have lost it’s focus.  Not something I could accept, so our relationship has come to a rather abrubt close.

And I have found a new camera and moved on.  Spent a few hours researching on the innernets, picked one out, and picked it up last night!  NO!, I didn’t pick it just because it’s teensy and teal colored and focuses REALLY close!  Well, partly because of all that.  (Did I mention that it’s teal colored?  really cool metallic teal?)  But the real deal clincher???  It’s waterproof!!!

BIG NEWS!!! HUGE even!!!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Well, Campers, there are BIG changes in the works for the Artful Bead in Carrollton!  And we think you’ll like them!

Starting in April, the Carrollton store will be shifting to *Summer Hours*.  We will be open:

Monday – Thursday     11:00am – 7:00pm  (one hour later opening and closing)
Friday and Saturday    10:00am – 7:00pm  (staying open one hour later)
Sunday – 12:00 – 5:00  (open Sunday!) (except Easter)

Yes, we will be open till 7 in the evenings!  So you can shop to let the traffic die down, and get home at the same time!  Or close to the same time, at least.

And we’ll be open on Sundays!  And on the first Sunday of the month, we’ll be teaching FREE basic bead weaving stitches!  You buy the beads and we’ll teach you peyote, herringbone (ndebele), square stitch, brick stitch, and tubular peyote and herringbone.  Check the class calendar on the first Sunday for details!

We’re reservations for the classroom on Sundays, too.  If you and your friends want to have a beading get-together, give us a call!  Our classroom will hold 6 with lots of room to spread out, or up to 10 if you’re all really good friends!
